In Sept-Îles, the police also intervene against drunk driving and speeding

SQ patrol officers intercepted a young driver who was traveling 180 km/h on Vigneault Boulevard.

The police officers from the Sûreté du Québec station of the MRC Sept-Rivières are proactive this fall not only in the fight against organized crime, they are also patrolling concerning drunk driving and speed. The recent newsletter from the SQ Sept-Îles Service Center reports three motorists intercepted in two days.

Two motorists had their licenses suspended for 90 days for drunk driving. The first was spotted on September 28 by a police officer on his way to work. Noticing the driver’s erratic driving, he contacted his colleagues. The 69-year-old Septilien was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol, dangerous driving and obstructing a peace officer. His breathalyzer levels were 230 and 220 mg/alcohol.

The next day, a 48-year-old man from Sept-Îles was arrested for driving while impaired. He called the police himself. The event occurred in the Gallix sector. His breathalyzer levels were 200 and 190 mg/alcohol.

180 km/h on Vigneault Boulevard

During the same period, SQ police officers intercepted an 18-year-old from Sept-Îles who was driving 180 km/h on Vigneault Boulevard. This is a 70 km/h zone.

The young driver with a probationary license received a fine of $2,051 and 24 demerit points. His driving license was suspended for 7 days and his vehicle parked. Another report was also issued to him in the amount of $322 for crossing a double solid line with 3 demerit points.
