Who is Latifa Moftaqir, new director of Morocco’s archives?

Holder of a master’s degree in public management from the Higher Institute of Commerce and Business Administration (ISCAE group), as well as two higher education diplomas in planning and urban planning and in archeology and heritage sciences,

Ms. Latifa Moftaqir has held the position of Director of , Libraries and Archives at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports since 2019.

Her career, rich in achievements, is marked by key functions within the ministry which she joined in 1995. She was also appointed by the Minister of Youth, Mehdi Bensaïd, interim director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco. Over the years, she served as head of the international cooperation department in the Cooperation Division and was also designated regional director for the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region.

As head of the international cooperation department at the Cooperation Division, she supervised the Priority Solidarity Fund (FSP) program, managed by the Book Department, which enabled the creation of nine media libraries and nearly forty satellite reading points. Subsequently, it launched, as part of the Rabat City of Lights program, an ambitious project to upgrade the city’s libraries.
