Municipal: the PS and the Engagés concluded their majority agreement in Amay

LThe PS and the Engagés concluded their majority agreement in Amay, in the province of Liège, they explained Friday midday during a press conference, specifying their intentions for the next six years.

“We take note of the desire clearly expressed by the voters of Amay to face an alternative in municipal management”, immediately clarified the future mayor Samuel Moiny (PS).

In the socialist ranks, Samuel Moiny will be assisted by Lionel De Marco, in particular in charge of Finance, by Alderwoman Vinciane Sohet for Education and Social Cohesion, as well as by Janine Davignon who will manage Ecology and Works.

Stéphane Darot (Les Engagés) will be the first alderman, particularly in charge of well-being matters. His running mate Jean-Louis Matagne will become alderman for Heritage and Tourism.

The presidency of the CPAS is awarded to Amandine Fraiture (PS).

The priorities of this majority

Among the priorities expressed on Friday, the new Amaytoise majority plans to “open up local democracy by promoting citizen participation mechanisms, strengthening information for citizens, ensuring the availability of elected officials or even developing a neighborhood policy “.

Support for associative actors, prioritization of urban renovation and development of alternative mobility are also among the intentions of the new team.

After the defeat of the environmentalists in Ottignies/Louvain-la-Neuve, Amay constitutes one of the last Walloon bastions of Ecolo which fell the day after the municipal election of October 13. The PS and the Amaytois Engagés thus put an end to eighteen years of environmentalist mayorship.
