He had been at the head of the commune for over forty years. Thursday October 17, 2024Michel Gérès, the mayor of Croissy-Beaubourg (Seine-et-Marne) announced his resignation, which was previously accepted by the prefect.

“Passing the baton”

Arrived at the head of the municipality in 1983, Michel Gérès saw the development of the new town of Marne-la-Vallée, in which his commune has a somewhat unique place, as it cultivates its “village spirit”. “At almost 78 years old in 2026, it seems wise to me to pass the baton to a new personalityready to continue the work we have accomplished for Croissy-Beaubourg,” he said in a press release.

During its successive mandates, the town was provided with numerous public facilities, without becoming excessively urbanized.

Another subject which motivated this departure, the late appeal which he must bring before the Constitutional Council about the 2023 senatorial elections. “This is, for the present as well as the future, a real state affair,” he said in the same press release.

An election will take place on Monday, November 4 so that the municipal council can elect the next mayor of Croissy-Beaubourg. Until then, Alain Albaretthe first deputy, assumes the responsibilities of interim mayor. Michel Gérès will remain a municipal councilor of Croissy-Beaubourg and vice-president of the -Vallée de la Marne agglomeration community.
