With a festival of goals against Latvia 6-0, Belgium takes place for its first match

Belgium successfully entered the competition in these qualifications for the very first 2025 Women’s Futsal World Cup, Wednesday in Alingsas in Sweden. Against Latvia, the Belgians pulled out all the stops to win 6-0. A clear victory which allows them to temporarily take the lead in group 5 while awaiting the result of Slovakia-Sweden (7:00 p.m.).

After a first half marked by the only goal from Marie Bougard (7th, 1-0), Niki De Cock’s players progressed in the second half with four goals in less than ten minutes: Noa Corbeels (22:55, 2-0), Yasemin In (23:58, 3-0), Sara Bakar (29:38, 4-0) and Lauren Meyers (31:26, 5-0). Marieke Peeters made it 6-0 with a final goal in the final seconds (38:10).

On Thursday, Belgium will face Slovakia (2 p.m.) before playing Sweden on Saturday (5 p.m.) for their final qualifying match.

During the first qualifying phase, twenty-three teams were divided into six groups. The six group winners will join already qualified Portugal and Spain in the elite round. This second and final qualifying phase will take place from March 18 to 23, 2025. The first two in each of the two groups will qualify for the 2025 Futsal World Cup which will take place in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7. In total, sixteen nations will take part.
