In Mandelieu-la-Napoule, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the water level suddenly rose in the city center on the morning of Wednesday October 16. Extremely violent rains linked to an episode in the Cévennes fell in the south-east of France.

After 24 hours of continuous rain, a raging torrent is now crossing the small town of Pégomas (Alpes-Maritimes), Wednesday October 16. It is difficult to imagine that the day before, the Mourachonne river was only a small stream. The entire Alpes-Maritimes department is on alert. Early Wednesday morning, torrential rains surprised the residents of Mandelieu-la-Napoule (Alpes-Maritimes). Within minutes, the entire city center was flooded.

Many bridges are today impassable and submerged, such as in Villefort (Lozère). It is here that we recorded the largest accumulation of rain. Worried, the mayor of the town does not take his eyes off the water level, which continues to rise. In Anduze (), it is impossible to go from one bank to the other. The Gardon River continued to swell all day and the flow was multiplied by 80. The authorities are calling on residents to limit their movements in the departments placed on orange vigilance, because the brunt of the precipitation is expected in the next 36 hours.
