Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence remain on yellow alert

While nine departments in the southern half of the country are placed on orange alert for rain and floods this Thursday, Provence should be partly spared. According to the latest update from Météo France, Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes will remain on yellow alert. The Alpes-Maritimes, on the other hand, first classified in orange this Wednesday before switching to yellow, will be on orange alert this Thursday, the only department in the Paca region in this category.

This does not mean that the sun will shine like on Tuesday and Wednesday, quite the contrary!

The Aix branch of Météo-France forecasts significant accumulations. Between 20 and 30 mm of precipitation across the entire territory and possibly between 50 and 60 mm locally where the storms will be strongest. As a reminder, on average, there are between 80 and 100 mm of showers over the entire month of so-called normal October.

The expected Cevennes episode, however, keeps Ardèche, Lozère and Gard under orange surveillance. Aveyron, Lot, Corrèze, Tarn and the Atlantic Pyrenees are given the same color code.
