Savoie wines want to reveal themselves to the public!

The 11th edition of the “Fascinating weekend” aims to highlight wines from the Savoie region.

Set off to discover the wine treasures of our region. This is the objective of the “Fascinating weekend”, the 11th edition of which is officially launched this Wednesday on the Aix-les-Bains market in Savoie. Until Sunday, the program promises to be rich and diverse in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

Visits, tastings and even concerts

More than 200 activities will be organized around wine tourism, ranging from wine tastings (to be consumed in moderation of course!), to cellar visits, including walks in vineyards and concerts. The event takes place both in Savoie with the destination “Cœur de Savoie”, Chambéry, la Chautagne, Aix-les-Bains and Jongieux, and in Haute-Savoie in the communes of Seyssel or Frangy. Complete program can be found on the website fascinator-weekend.fr

A great way to highlight the wines of Savoie and Haute-Savoie which have gained in quality and notoriety, up to the most beautiful starred restaurants. The territory has 2,050 hectares of vines in production and 3 AOP (Protected Designations of Origin): Savoie, Roussette de Savoie and Seyssel as well as 20 Geographical Designations. The countries of Savoie work with 22 different grape varieties.

Climatic conditions impact production

The industry has moved upmarket, but production is suffering. It has declined in recent years, notably due to climatic conditions. This is what Julien Barlet, the president of the Savoie regional wine union, explains to us:
