The board of directors of Habitat Social en (which brings together 67 social housing organizations in the region) voted on October 9 in favor of maintaining at its head the “pair” made up of Jean-Michel Fabre, until then vice-president, and Michel Calvo, president of the previous mandate. In a context of unprecedented housing crisis for more than 70 years, and while the Hlm movement remains awaiting a real national housing policy commensurate with the situation, HSO intends to continue its action in uniting all stakeholders in the region around a common objective: housing Occitanie as it is, in all its diversity, from the middle classes to the most modest, from metropolises to rural areas, from young professionals to seniors, single women with children, and people with disabilities. Renovation of the Hlm heritage for its energy performance, adaptation to climate change with attention paid to the issues of summer comfort and water management, restoration of the financial capacities of social landlords for the recovery of new production of rental housing social… these are the major challenges to which the new mandate of Habitat Social in Occitanie will respond. Supporting transformations in the regional territory will also involve priorities such as improving consideration of the needs of rural areas, anticipating changes in senior housing in the face of aging populations, or even strengthening the tranquility of the residences. In this perspective, Jean-Michel Fabre and Michel Calvo, president and vice-president of HSO, wish to assert the unifying and resolutely combative position of the organization, to have influence in the public debate. “In recent years, we have been able to lead and successfully complete the merger of our two entities, in a spirit of serenity and complementarity at the head of a unified organization that has become HSO. This has enabled us, in a period of difficulty for our sector, to raise the voice of the Hlm movement in our greater region, for action in favor of housing, for our tenants and for the social landlords that we represent. It is driven by this same spirit that we hear in the. over the coming months and years, put our strengths and our complementary visions to fight the battle, even the battles, for housing” underline Jean-Michel Fabre, president of HSO and Michel Calvo, vice-president of HSO.
