On the eve of returning to Denmark for Switzerland’s fourth match in the Nations League, captain Granit Xhaka spoke to the RTS microphone. Xhaka admitted to having slept little after the performance in Serbia, which resulted in a 2-0 defeat. “I’ll be honest, I didn’t go to bed until 8am. It was a match with a lot of emotions. Anyway, I always have difficulty falling asleep after a match, especially a defeat. We self-criticize, we look at what we did well, what we did less well.“

The defensive midfielder is fully aware of this and does not hide behind evasive speech. “There are difficult moments, when we have to defend together with more precision. We need to win a lot more duels. And we have to take advantage of our chances, because we had very good ones in every match. We want to be a top team? So we have to improve these elements to win.“
Even if he concedes that the match in Denmark, whose contentious decisions, the stormy end and his expulsion caused debate, will be in a corner of his memory, Xhaka is resolutely focused on the revenge that Switzerland must take if it intends to avoid falling into League B.”We want to perform well, we want to play good football, with or without the ball and play aggressively.
