Montreal has been waiting for a long time for the little Belgian, the very big GuiHome! It was finally this weekend that Montrealers were able to see the Belgian comedian known to the public thanks to his numerous crazy videos on the internet over the past 10 years.
If initially, his goal was only to entertain his classmates by parodying the school environment on Facebook, it is a completely assumed, funny and authentic 31-year-old man that we had the chance to see at the Olympia from Montreal.
Even before the show started, spectators were exchanging their impressions of Guihome, watching the artist’s videos here and there and laughing out loud. The public awaited with happiness and excitement Guihome, whose real name is Guillaume Wattecamps, videographer and producer, who we know mainly thanks to his Facebook page.
Each person sitting in the room had their favorite video, we could hear people talking about GuiHome like a long-awaited family member, the Olympia room was already conquered by the artist even before seeing him on stage. But we didn’t know what awaited us…
Regardless of everyone’s expectations this Friday, October 11, we could never have imagined having such an evening! Two hours of laughter without a break. Two hours discovering the world as seen by GuiHome. Two hours of listening to it without getting tired. And we would have happily spent more time with him if it hadn’t been for the fatigue that follows the show, a positive fatigue resulting from the great generosity of the artist on stage. No surprise that the room was packed this evening.
A thrilling first part offered by Rolly Assal
The comedian born in Quebec and son of a Syrian father and an Egyptian mother seduced us from the start. Sharing with us some parts of his immigrant childhood despite the fact that he was born in Quebec, Rolly Assal made fun of the taunts he experienced both at school and in his personal life and on social networks. Frankly, a great discovery for those who didn’t know him yet.
Rolly Assal was able to delight the audience with his beautiful personality and his self-deprecation. His roadmap is already busy and a 2024-2025 tour is currently taking place both in Quebec and in Europe. Well anchored on stage, the man knew how to put the audience in the mood for the evening, a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. It must be said that he is used to igniting a crowd, having hosted certain comedy evenings in Montreal and Paris. An artist to discover and see on stage very soon in Montreal. Hurry!

In addition to making us exhausted with laughter, GuiHome adapted his show for Quebec and the link between him and us was immediately created.
The comedian was first seen in Quebec, at the capitol no less, this Thursday, October 10! He was in Montreal, at the Olympia, on October 11 and 13, 2024. With a full house for the first two evenings, there is no doubt that the audience was eager to see GuiHome on stage. And no one was disappointed. With great generosity towards us, he was able to meet our expectations both through his jokes about Quebecers, the French and the Belgians and through his interviews with certain spectators. The few improvisations punctuated by unpredictable events on stage and in the room pleasantly livened up the evening.
How does he keep us under his spell all this time? Generous and true, GuiHome only dazzled us throughout the duration of his show. He is as we knew him on videos. He comes to us, directly into the room, having fun at the expense of others without ever attacking or humiliating. He talks to us about world events that blow us in the face by expressing his sarcastic opinion, sharing with us certain ideals of his life, his childhood, his personality. He is the king and we are his subjects, all equal, all carried away by his deep, but oh so sometimes uncomfortable, jokes.
There are few overseas comedians who make us laugh so much. We expected the show to be funny, of course, but never, never as funny as it was. The observations he makes about the world and his ridiculous comments do good to the soul, to the heart, to our whole being. And what can we say about his impressions of Quebecers! Without a filter (except that of dolphins, but we won’t tell you in what circumstances), he chats with us like an old friend and we just want to invite him home to end the evening.
