Finally some good news for the municipalities most affected by the depression Kirk which swept the country and generated, since October 9, 2024, very significant floods in Seine-et-Marne, and particularly around Grand Morin. Indeed, while the floods led to significant damage in the towns of Coulommiers, Crécy-la-Chapelle and Saint-Germain-sur-Morin, the accelerated procedure for recognizing the state of natural disaster has just been triggered by the Ministry of the Interior, this Saturday, October 12, at the request of the prefect of Seine-et-Marne.

“Allow rapid compensation”

“The intensity of this event justifies the implementation of such a procedure to allow rapid compensation communities, residents and activities impacted,” explains the prefecture.

The mayors of the impacted municipalities now have until Thursday October 17, at 5 p.m., to submit their request for recognition to the prefecture for the phenomena of runoff and of overflowing of rivers.

“An interministerial commission will meet on Tuesday October 22 to issue an opinion on each municipal file. This commission will decide on the natural character andabnormal intensity of the phenomenon based on the technical expertise carried out,” specifies the prefecture on this subject.
