The Bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux, Mgr Jacques Habert, announced this Friday, October 11 in a press release that Father Bruno Thévenin was the subject of extrajudicial criminal proceedings. The priest is accused of abuse of people and offenses against the sacraments.

Father Bruno Thévenin, priest of the diocese of Bayeux and Lisieux, is accused of “abuse of people and offenses against the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist”, indicates Mgr Jacques Habert, the bishop of the diocese, in a press release this Friday, October 11.

People who were victims of his actions were informed of this decision.

“He now resides in the diocese. He was the subject of extrajudicial criminal proceedings at the request of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith,” the latter specifies.

Long stationed in the Paris region for the Mission Thérèse association “which he founded”, priest Thévenin is today facing this procedure carried out by the diocese of Paris, according to the bishop.

A first decision of the church had already condemned Abbot Bruno Thévenin to dismissal from the clerical state and his excommunication. “He currently remains banned from any ministry,” adds Mgr Jacques Habert.
