Small Towns of Tomorrow, already more than 1 million euros invested in Picardie Verte

On October 9, the community of communes of Picardie Verte (CCPV), with the towns of Formerie and Grandvilliers, took a new step in the Small Towns of Tomorrow system.

A boon for the region. Thanks to the Small Towns of Tomorrow system, from the national agency for territorial cohesion, Formerie and Grandvilliers have benefited from essential aid since 2021 to carry out numerous projects.

More than a million euros of state credits have already been invested.”

underlined Frédéric Bovet, secretary general of the prefecture

Grandvilliers and Formerie are getting closer

This is support in the face of future challenges. I saw the two towns of Formerie and Grandvilliers coming together rather than competing, and working together to set up an ambitious territorial project in order to strengthen attractiveness, services, mobility, housing and even culture.“, rejoiced the president of the CCPV Fabienne Cuvelier.

A rapprochement made possible in particular by the arrival in June 2023 of Chloé Ferreyrolles, Small Towns of Tomorrow project manager for the two municipalities.

Concrete projects thanks to Small Towns of Tomorrow

In Formerie, first of all, “lhe health home, victim of its success, awaits the arrival of new doctors and nurses. We also have other projects such as the renovation of the butter hall“, confided Mayor William Bous.

In Grandvilliers too, Petites Villes de Demain has enabled the development of numerous projects. Among them: the Maurice Richy dojo, the future solidarity beguinage and the future media library. But currently, it is mainly the commercial aspect that concerns Mayor Frédéric Douchet.

Local businesses have been victims of the development of mass distribution since the 1970s but also of online commerce. We are therefore planning the construction of a covered market on Place Barbier, with a pop-up bar for people to meet there on market days. A market which, for eight hundred and twelve years has taken place on Monday, but which we are considering moving to Saturday, in particular to allow people who work to come there.
