Akhannouch assures that he will strengthen support for professionals – Telquel.ma

CThis meeting takes place in preparation for the launch of the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign, which comes after five consecutive years of drought, having impacted all components of the sector, indicates a press release from the Department of the Head of Government.

These measures likely to contribute to the fall in the prices of agricultural products concern the protection of animal heritage and its reconstitution, as well as the strengthening of the resilience of the agricultural sector in the face of an unfavorable global context marked by climate change and the scarcity of water resources.

The meeting was an opportunity to examine the different mechanisms capable of contributing to achieving the expected balance at the level of the animal sectors, such as the dairy sector, the red meat sector and the poultry sector, as well as at the level plant sectors, like the olive, citrus, date palm, legumes, early vegetables, sugar, rice, seeds and cereals sectors.

Akhannouch affirmed, during this meeting, that the government will strengthen its support for professionals in different agricultural sectors, with a view to improving their performance on the basis of optimal management of inputs and production factors.

He added that the government will continue, in accordance with high royal directives, the mobilization of structuring investments aimed at strengthening the capacity of the agricultural sector to adapt to the repercussions of the drought and to take a series of measures capable of gradually restoring the balance of productive sectors.

It will ensure the monitoring of the implementation of the various urgent measures, capable of contributing to the reduction in prices of agricultural products, in order to preserve the purchasing power of citizens, just as it will ensure continuous supply and sufficient national markets.

In May 2023, the government signed a set of 19 new generation program contracts for the development and modernization of agricultural production sectors, as part of the implementation of the Generation Green strategy, for a total cost of more than 110 billion dirhams over 10 years, including more than 42 billion dirhams in the form of State contribution within the framework of the Agricultural Development Fund.

This meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, the General Treasurer of the Kingdom, Noureddine Bensouda, the director of State Domains, Mohamed El Kharmoudi, the general director of the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes, Abdellatif Amrani, the chairman of the board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc, Mohamed Fikrat, the director general of the National Food Safety Office, Abdallah Janati, as well as representatives of the agricultural sectors and professionals in the sector.
