The head of diplomacy reiterates the fundamentals of Morocco’s position regarding the Middle East as defined by HM the King

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, reiterated, Tuesday in Rabat, the fundamentals of the position of the Kingdom of Morocco concerning the Middle East as defined by His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee.

“Morocco’s position is very clear and defined by HM King Mohammed VI on several occasions,” he said during a press briefing following his talks with the president of the regional government of the Canary Islands. , Fernando Clavijo, recalling that the Kingdom calls for a move away from the logic of crisis management towards that of establishing parameters for a lasting solution.

In this sense, he affirmed that Morocco is for a two-state solution, with a Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For Mr. Bourita, “we must not let extremists on both sides control the agenda in the Middle East and it is time for constructive actors to regain control and initiative so that the region is not taken hostage by extremists of all stripes.

Insisting on the fundamental nature of the protection of civilians in accordance with ethics, international law and the precepts of religions, he added that attacks against these civilians are condemnable.

Mr. Bourita also warned against the widening of the circle of conflict in Lebanon, which brings dangers and instability for the entire region.

“It is time for there to be mobilization and for the United Nations bodies to fully assume their responsibilities to stop the attacks against the Palestinian people,” he maintained, reaffirming that Morocco denounces the attacks against schools, hospitals and the thousands of women and children targeted by Israeli attacks, without forgetting the ban on access to humanitarian aid and the policy aimed at “starving” Palestinians on their territories.
These acts are condemnable by Morocco, whose Sovereign, HM King Mohammed VI, is President of the Al Quds Committee, said Mr. Bourita.

Likewise, he noted, the Kingdom of Morocco condemns the inappropriate remarks and attacks against the Secretary General of the United Nations and foreign heads of state, stressing that Morocco denounces these attacks against good will who do not seek than finding ways out.

“These attacks do not contribute to de-escalation or the search for rapid solutions to this conflict,” he said, adding that the initiatives can be discussed, accepted or rejected within a framework of respect for the status of the Heads of State. State. He also noted that instability in the Middle East “feeds hatred and extremism and represents a factor that fuels terrorism.”

“All goodwill and all proposals must be examined constructively,” he continued, noting that taking or rejecting them are sovereign decisions that must be taken within the framework of mutual respect.
