The Jazz sur son 31 festival returns to (and Haute-Garonne) with 33 free concerts

It is back for a 38th edition. From October 9 to 20, 2024, 36 municipalities of Haute-Garonne (including ) celebrate jazz with the Jazz sur son 31 festival. On the program for these few exceptional days: 17 free concerts out of the 31 organizedas well as several cultural actions to open this musical genre to all generations, and thus bringing the festival to 48 events, including more than 30 free of charge. In short, a plural and eclectic program, close to local actors, promoting artistic and cultural encounters!

An impressive program

The programming of this 38th edition of Jazz sur son 31 demonstrates the richness of an event whose scope goes beyond the borders of Haute-Garonne. It embodies a culture that the Departmental Council wishes to be unifying, diverse and accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of their social background and where they live. This plurality translates into renewed support from the community for local cultural actors.”says Sébastien Vincini, President of the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council.

This 2024 edition (16,511 spectators came last year) will bring new shimmering, sparkling and festive sound illustrations and will get off to a flying start this Wednesday, October 9, 2024 with three opening concerts : one at 8 p.m. at the Pavillon République in Toulouse with the group El Comite; a second at 8 p.m. at the Métronum with Aquaserge and Mortelle Randonnée; and one at 8:30 p.m. in Altigone with the breathtaking Steve Coleman & Five Elements.

Artists like Ballaké from Sisso, Vincent Segal, Emile Parisian or even Vincent Peirani complete the poster and will thus appear in the concert halls of the department, in the same way as the legendary The Staples Jr. Singersavant-garde singing family of soul gospel artists of the 1970s.

For their part, David Haudrechy will provide a jazz lesson around the unique work of Erik Truffaz, the pianist (virtuoso) Daniel Garcia and one of the most promising talents on the current jazz scene (aka Mark Prior) will invite the public to discover their inspired and innovative rhythmic approaches, just as Geraldine Laurent & Laurent de Wilde, Camille Bertault, Ana Carla Mazaet Thierry Di Filippo 4tet

Local artists to (re)discover on stage

The quality of the programming of this 38th Jazz on its 31 offers a great overview of the richness and diversity that the jazz style can offer. This festival, which has become essential, is also an opportunity to bring out new local artists. We are happy to contribute to it.”, says Anne Boyer Vice-President of the Departmental Council in charge of culture.

And among the natives of Haut-Garonnais – who represent two thirds of the programming – we will find these names: Akoni Astrobeat, Le Tigre des Platanes, Édredon Sensible, Fellas, La Pieuvre Irréfutable, Ramène Ta Trompette, Bernard Sellam & The Boyz From the Hood , Illyes Ferfera 4tet, Galim Atias, but also Daoud… And many others surprises !

18 cultural actions for everyone

I have also not forgotten the various initiatives in favor of users of medico-social structures, middle school students or music school students. Jazz should not be reserved for an elite, but on the contrary must “speak” to all audiences from 7 to 77 years old. This year again, Jazz in its 31st is no exception to this rule.”, adds Sébastien Vincini, President of the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council.

Cultural actions, eighteen in number (college fanfares, jazz lessons, mediation with a social audience), will punctuate the twelve days of this festival. to make the musical and cultural event even more accessible to as many people as possible. Activities open to all set up by the organizers, in addition to numerous completely free concerts and others at very reasonable prices.
