Quebec Summer Festival: Coldplay, we forget that for 2025

Even if they will be in Canada next July, the long-awaited first meeting between Coldplay and the Plains of Abraham will not take place in 2025.

The Journal has learned from a reliable source that the British group will not be part of the lineup for the next Quebec Summer Festival, which will be held from July 3 to 13, 2025.

An approach was made to the Coldplay team by the FEQ, we learned, but the project was not successful.

Contacted by The Journalthe festival’s communications team has neither confirmed nor denied our information.

There was hope

All hopes were high, however, since Tuesday morning, when Chris Martin’s band announced the itinerary of a new series of concerts in stadiums in North America on the tour Music of the Spheres.

Quebecers quickly noticed two concerts in Toronto, on July 7 and 8, then another in Boston on the 15th. All this space in the calendar suggested that it was finally the FEQ’s turn, but it will ultimately be again for a next time.

For the record, serious discussions had taken place for Coldplay to perform on the Plains, during the opening evening of the 2008 Summer Festival, on the occasion of the 400th celebrations.e from Quebec City. The deal ultimately could not be concluded.

Last Friday, the quartet made up of Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman launched their tenth career album, Moon Music.

Coldplay’s last concerts in Quebec took place on August 8 and 9, 2017, at the Bell Center in Montreal. The group has never played in Quebec.
