Seven teenagers suspected of numerous violent crimes arrested in Saint-Léonard

Seven teenagers, some as young as 14, who are part of a criminal group based in the Saint-Léonard district of Montreal, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a series of violent crimes.

The arrests of young people aged between 14 and 17 were made last week, but it was only Wednesday that Montreal police made the announcement.

According to authorities, the seven teenagers are linked to a group in Saint-Léonard involved in numerous crimes, including armed robberies, firearm discharges, arson and extortion.

During their investigation, the police were able to see the suspects taking refuge in a vacant commercial space on Jean-Talon Street after certain crimes.

The young criminals broke into this location around mid-June and decided to use it as a “hideout”.

Their repeated presence in this vacant building eventually attracted the attention of law enforcement. The police were then able to identify them and observe their comings and goings.

This is also how the authorities were able to establish that the teenagers were taking refuge there after going to commit a crime in the city.

The seven young suspects were released on a promise to appear at a later date in the Youth Chamber.

Four of them were already detained regarding their alleged involvement in other criminal offenses.

Furthermore, two other members of this criminal group have still not been located and are currently being sought by the police. It concerns a 16-year-old teenager and a 20-year-old young man who are both the subject of an arrest warrant.
