No more online pre-complaints, online complaint will be operational in the area of Hérault national police from this Tuesday, October 15, 2024, after a test in , which proved conclusive. This new system will be implemented in the territory, without specifying whether the national gendarmerie is concerned. In short, you will be able to contact the police services in your area.

The information was revealed this Wednesday morning by divisional commissioner Benoît Desmartin, deputy interdepartmental director of the Hérault national police –DIPN 34– during a prevention meeting against insecurity with tobacconists, at the CCI Hérault in Mauguio.

Un positive number

The number 2 of the general controller Marjorie Ghizoli, DIPN 34 specified that, “according to the statistics emanating from the national police management of the test department of Gironde, it appears that only 40% of the complainants who filed complaints online are re-summoned later to add essential details to an investigation, the remaining 60% having their statement recorded, with the investigations at stake, without them having to go to the police station. A positive result for extending it across the territory, however with this fear: that these online complaints will “explode” and saturate the services.

It’s what ? The online complaint is a system that allows you to file a complaint remotely via the internet, following an offense against property, the perpetrator of which is unknown. These attacks on property target threats, damage, simple theft and others. This free service, which will be launched on October 15, aims to make it easier to file a complaint.

This approach offers victims the possibility of filing a complaint directly online, without going to a police station. In Hérault, the national police districts of (Lattes and Pérols), Béziers (Cers, Villeneuve-lès-Béziers, Boujan-sur-Libron), and Sète--la Peyrade are concerned.

Who is affected? Any person in a non-urgent situation wishing to file a complaint which is electronic. It is registered against X, therefore.

What offenses? Any attack against property where the identity of the perpetrator is unknown: damage to property, for example theft of a mobile phone, computer, bank card followed by fraudulent use, off-internet fraud, incivility and threats in transport, other damage to property.

How is it going? The steps are simple: “I check whether the offense of which I was the victim falls within the scope of an online complaint. During this check, I will also be asked to choose a municipality. If I am eligible for the online complaint, it will be offered to me at the end of the process. In other cases, I would be guided towards the right approach,” assures the national police.

Logical sequence

This system is a logical continuation of that of the online pre-complaint launched a year ago, but with a significant improvement: whereas after having filed a pre-complaint against at the police station at a precise date and time close together (via a summons) to confirm it and bring various documents, from now on, except in rare cases (40% on average), they will no longer have to waste time which is always precious.
