Closure of the Paul-Aimé-Paiement library

The Paul-Aimé-Paiement library will close its doors for a long period of renovation from October 15, 2024 until spring 2025. The City of Quebec has announced that this work, more complex than expected, aims to guarantee the safety of users and staff, as well as preserving the integrity of the building, which is part of the former Marist Brothers college.

A temporary collection point will be set up on November 11 at the Charlesbourg district office for document returns and reservations. Users will also be able to take advantage of local libraries, whose opening hours will be adjusted, notably at the Bon-Pasteur library.

This work, estimated at $9.2 million, includes the restoration of the brick walls, the reconstruction of the foundations and the redevelopment of the basement. The work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025, extending the closure for approximately one year. The heritage building was initially updated in 2006, to add a contemporary glass and stone building, with a sloping green roof.
