Seine-et-Marne has been placed on red alert for floods, while a “very significant rainy episode” crosses part of the country, Météo-France announced on Wednesday, October 9, in the last bulletin published at 4 p.m. The organization also has several dozen departments on orange alert for the rains.
The rains associated with the Kirk depression, which crosses the country this Wednesday, are currently located between Center-Val-de-Loire and Ile-de-France. They are starting to weaken in the west of Pays-de-Loire, with the bulk of the precipitation having passed between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Mété-France said. Furthermore, the south wind blows in strong gusts over the Pyrenees as well as the Center-East and Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
“The expected amounts of rain could cause a strong to exceptional flood on [la rivière] Grand Morin. Rapid rises and localized overflows could be observed as early as Wednesday evening”added, for its part, the specialized government site Vigicrues.
