Mpox: Siga will provide the treatment in Morocco

The drug manufacturer Siga Technologies is responding favorably to the request from the Moroccan Ministry of Health, wishing to obtain treatment against mpox (a disease caused by the monkeypox virus). This is to ensure protection of the population against any potential spread of this disease.

The American manufacturer declares that it is prepared to cover the needs of the Kingdom within the framework of a sales contract to be concluded for this purpose.

Note that to deal with the current epidemic of the mpox virus, the antiviral treatment Tpoxx was already available in Africa, within the framework of clinical trials as well as the protocol for access to the emergency use of the World Health Organization.

However, this agreement marks the first commercial sale of this treatment by Siga Technologies on the continent.
