Sexual violence. Isère MP Hugo Prevost excluded from the LFI group

The announcement caused a small political earthquake in Isère, and we have no doubt that the shock wave will be national. This Tuesday evening, after 10 p.m., a press release from the parliamentary group of La insoumise was published. And the information was confirmed to us by members of LFI 38, before it fueled dozens of exchanges by text messages or instant messages.

The text of the rebellious deputies says: «The 23rd september 2024, the LFI-NFP parliamentary group was contacted by the Vigilance Committee against Sexist and Sexual Violence (CVSS) of La France insoumise concerning serious acts of a sexual nature which could be criminal offenses, prior to its election, accused of MP Hugo Prevost. The 2 october 2024, a delegation mandated by the office of the LFI-NFP parliamentary group interviewed him […] It emerged from this hearing, supported by several testimonies, that the seriousness of the alleged facts and their systemic nature required the parliamentary group to be referred so that it could impose a sanction. To this end, gathered on the 8th october 2024, in accordance with the principles of the charter signed by the LFI-NFP candidates in the legislative elections committing to “defend feminist values and combat sexist and sexual violence wherever it occurs», the LFI-NFP parliamentary group declared the exclusion of MP Hugo Prevost.»

The Student Union reports several testimonies

At the same time, the Student Union – of which the Isère deputy was one of the highest hierarchical officials from 2020 to 2024 – also published a press release of its own, reporting a collection of testimonies on “acts of moral and sexual harassment, patterns of predation, serious criminal acts of a sexual nature.» The union explains that the recent election of Hugo Prevost would have freed up speech within its ranks and requests his resignation for this reason [ce qui déclencherait une législative partielle si c’était le cas, NDLR].

This Tuesday evening, we therefore tried to contact the Isère MP, his attaché, but also his parliamentary colleague Elisa Martin as well as the national coordinator of France Insoumise, Manuel Bompard. But none responded. Probably because of the late hour…

We recall that Hugo Prevost was elected last July on the 1re constituency of Isère, after being preferred by the New Popular Front to a socialist candidate, and especially after beating the former Macronist minister Olivier Véran.
