600 sandwichesas many croissants and bottles of water; of the tens of liters of coffeehundreds of apples; cheese, gingerbread, pastry bars, dark chocolate, dried bananas… This is not Gargantua’s shopping list but rather what will have been distributed this Sunday, October 6, 2024 to 230 Braves and 280 Peinards who participated in the 16th edition of the Granit’Eau Bois in Saint-Sever-Calvados.

» 510 participants, that’s 30 more than the previous edition in 2022. Which comforts us in the choice we made this year to reduce the length of the circuits to 15 and 30 km. We are more than satisfied,” reports Alain Legrain, member of the Collectif Associatif Rando, organizer of the event.

The participants were not bothered by the drizzle and the sun even made a few appearances

Generally speaking, the participants praised the organization and “the circuits offered in the Saint-Sever forest which are very nice”, underlined Laëtitia who came from Condé-sur-Vire with Taco, her dog, to join cousins and aunts for a sporting moment of “ back to basics « .

Also very appreciated by hikers: the support and dedication of the fifty volunteers dedicated to preparing sandwiches and distributing supplies; reception, road crossing safety, marking, etc. “Volunteers without whom Granit’Eau Bois, like many other events, would not exist,” concludes Alain Legrain.
