Some may have already walked it several times. It must be said that the path of the Laurède Loopdeparting from the town of Cintegabelle, south of , has for some time now been allowing hiking enthusiasts to enjoya breathtaking view of the cultures of Lauragais and the Pyrenees mountain range. But it is now to as many people as possible that the community of communes of the Auterivain basin (CCBA) wanted to open this circuit between river and hillsalong the banks of the Ariège.

“The Boucle de Laurède is the first of the five hiking loops in the town to be labeled FFRandonnée», congratulated himself Lise Nemethdeputy mayor, this Friday October 4, 2024, at the time of her inauguration.

A circuit of almost 7 kilometers in the heart of nature

Long de 7.2 kilometers this trail – which is also part of the Departmental Plan for walking and hiking routes (PDIPR) supported by the Haute-Garonne departmental council – starts from the village hall, then leads those who use it through the streets of Cintegabelle, to discover several points of cultural and historical interestsuch as the village church, but also old rural buildings. Before continuing along the Lavela stream, then the banks of the Ariège, in the middle of nature.

“This path, perfectly marked and secure, enhances our territory by offering a magnificent view of the Volvestre and the Pyrenees”, rejoiced Sebastien Vincini president of the departmental council and “local child who grew up in the neighboring hamlet”, this Friday.

“Promote respectful tourism”…

Especially since this labeling project is part of a real landscape enhancement approach of the Auterivain basin and, more generally, territorial and tourist development. And this, “while promoting environmentally friendly tourismand local heritage”, we support from the community of communes.

“It is also the result of a collaboration between many local actors who contributed to the development of the course, in particular by planting more than 300 treesincluding fruit trees, along the Ariège river and by installing awareness panels,” confirms Joel Cazajusdeputy vice-president for protection and development of the environment at the CCBA.

…and practicing physical activity

If the Boucle de Laurède and its 7.2 kilometer trail fall into the “easy” level hiking category, with 127 meters of positive and negative elevationthey also fully fit into the promotion of gentle mobility and the practice of healthy sportsas Sébastien Vincini indicated: “A new hiking trail is also a new way to practice physical activity close to home and to cultivate your health. »
