He did not have time to take up his position in the bakery-sandwich shop where he was employed. This Tuesday, October 8, 2024, “shortly before 7 a.m.”, a young man from Afghan nationality was arrested in front of this store On the front (Haute-Garonne), by the anti-terrorist services, in the suburbs of Toulouse.

“He did not live in the town”

“He worked but did not live in the town,” assures Toulouse News the entourage of the mayor of Fronton. His brother as well as a third man were arrested at the same time in Toulouse by the DGSI (General Directorate of Internal Security), with theRaid support.


According to our information, the trio would be aged 20 to 31. He was placed in police custody as part of a preliminary investigation opened by the PNAT (National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office), on the charge of “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing one or more crimes against persons referred to in 1° of article 421-1 of the Penal Code”.

What were the suspects potentially aiming for? The PNAT did not wish to comment on the nature of the current project. The mayor of Fronton speaks without tongue in cheek about a “attack plan”.

Hugo Cavagnac recalled it: “Fronton is not an island and we are right in our continued policy of protecting our events and public places.” The mayor recalled the “remarkable work of our security forces [qui] protect us. We must salute them, congratulate them and be grateful.”
