Lhe seven teenagers arrested after violently attacking two students at their school last Thursday in Herzele appeared before the youth judge, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. One of the boys was placed in a closed center for a period of one month by the Dendermonde youth judge.
The East Flanders public prosecutor’s office was informed of serious acts of violence committed Thursday afternoon at the Herzele athenaeum. Seven minor boys were arrested. According to initial findings, they used a screwdriver to attack two other young people. One was seriously injured and was taken to hospital for treatment. The other suffered minor injuries.
The seven boys were all brought before a youth judge. “Two of them appeared before the Oudenaarde youth judge, given their place of residence. The judge imposed measures on each of them,” according to the prosecution. “The other five were brought before the Dendermonde youth judge. A minor was placed in a closed institution for one month. Three others had conditions imposed and one boy was released unconditionally for the time being.”
