the mayor of Rufisque, member of Taxawu supports Pastef

Since his “risky” decision to go solo, Ousmane Sonko’s Pastef has continued to receive significant support from officials of other influential parties in the Senegalese political scene. Among them, the mayor of Rufisque, and deputy of the 14th legislature, Dr Oumar CISSE who decided to vote for Pastef.

“My differences with Taxawu were deeper than I thought…” said the MP in his speech explaining that he had refused to appear on the lists of “Taxawu” in the legislative elections.

Attached is his speech:
In the name of Coherence and Ethics in Politics!
For several months, a debate has taken place within the management of Taxawu Senegal on the direction of our platform in the current context. Indeed, I energetically defended that Taxawu must adopt a “CITIZEN’S WAY” far from political calculations. This path must be exclusively dedicated to the interests of the populations and not to political calculations such as “how many deputies we must have whatever the means”.

This path, little frequented by current political actors, more careerist than concerned about the suffering of the populations, is not partisan. It is “ETHICAL” and wants to be “COHERENT”. A path that would allow us to be alongside the populations, to defend their interests whenever necessary. Taxawu was to encourage the new authorities and support them if their initiatives were in line with the interests of the populations. But our platform must also oppose those going against the concerns of citizens.
Still, I insisted that Taxawu distance itself from the entities resulting from Benno Bokk Yakaar (Bby) because we fought them for 12 years due to mafia, liberticidal, anti-democratic and money-grabbing policies and practices. riches of the regime of President Macky Sall.

Alas, my differences with comrades in the Taxawu leadership were deeper than I thought. Despite my position as President of the Conference of Leaders, I was unable to get the management of Taxawu to adopt this civic path. Faced with this observation, I decided not to appear on the lists for the legislative elections. Today Taxawu has clearly crossed another threshold by co-hosting an inter-coalition with the APR. MPs from Pastef, we from Taxawu oppose the BBY parliamentarians in their attempts to have the pernicious policies and laws of the Macky Sall regime adopted. Today, we are asked to unite with the ex-Deputies of the APR to counter the policies and laws recommended by the new authorities from Pastef with whom we have had discussions. It is incoherent, inexplicable and indefensible. I do not see politics as simply a means of securing positions of power by trampling on morals, virtue and ethics.

There is no doubt that the country’s new authorities have committed themselves resolutely and energetically during their first six months to a phase of recovery of the country marked by the launch of a vast accountability operation, the tracking down and removal of benefits. undue taxes, the audit and, if necessary, the renegotiation of oil, mining and fishing conventions and contracts, the freezing of mafia land operations, the suppression of useless institutions for relocating politicians, to name only the latter. These major acts relating to the governance of the country that the Executive took during this semester, despite some understandable formal blunders, open up prospects of hope and equitable development for Senegal. It would be suicidal to put a stop to this during the next legislative elections by voting for the parties, coalitions or inter-coalitions led by Bby’s vengeful entities.

This inevitable recovery, which aims to normalize the country, will enable its transformation phase to begin. The latter will undoubtedly include the transformation of our economy, particularly its agriculture and the start of true industrialization, the reform of the education system to orient it towards trades, the extension and raising of the plateau and infrastructure of health, the redevelopment of our cities which promotes equitable access to land and housing and sustainable management of rainwater as well as the preservation of our ecological resources. We also dare to hope that the recovery and transformation of the country will be accompanied by the modernization of the town of Rufisque which has suffered too much from the inaction of the State. Also, civic duty requires encouraging and supporting the new authorities in their desire to recover the country and transform its economy for the benefit of all. Their success will be ours. Thus, I urge the members of the Vision Rufisque citizen movement to which I belong, the populations of my city, my department of Rufisque and Senegal as a whole to vote massively for the PASTEF list in order to allow the continuation of the imperative project recovery of the country’s governance.

Finally, I would particularly like to “THANK” my dear Rufisquois compatriots who allowed me to be a representative of the people with the mission of defending their interests as well as those of all the populations of Senegal in general. See you soon for other challenges for Rufisque and Senegal.
Jerengen Jef Thank you EVERYONE!
