The investigation into the Rosa-Parks high school brawl is moving forward. A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody at the Montgeron police station this Monday, October 7. He is suspected of having taken part in the violent fight that occurred on Friday September 27 in the high school in this town in Essonne.
As a reminder, the brawl, images of which were broadcast on social networks, occurred after the afternoon break. Two students were slightly injured with hammers, crutches and fists.
Videos and witnesses
Faced with a large degree of silence, the Val d’Yerres – Val de Seine police officers carried out their investigations on the basis of videos filmed by other students that day, but also testimonies from several members of the high school which made it possible to identify protagonists. Including this 15-year-old boy, schooled in Rosa-Parks, who allegedly took part in the violence. The custody of the young person arrested can last up to 48 hours. The investigation into “intentional violence with a weapon in a meeting” continues.
In parallel with the judicial investigation, the public authorities are working to stop the spiral of violence which affects the Montgeron high school, reputed to be the most popular in Île-de-France. Friday, Valérie Pécresse, president (LR) of the region, announced the upcoming installation of around a hundred video surveillance cameras, a third of which will be inside the establishment. A 550,000 euro project financed by the region.
Finally, the regional elected official assured that a regional security brigade (BRS) would be established permanently in northern Essonne, in order to benefit Rosa-Parks and the Talma high school in Brunoy, also affected by the phenomenon of inter-district brawls. “The objective is that there can no longer be unpunished acts of violence here in Montgeron and that anyone who wants to attack a student will be immediately identified and punished,” declares Valérie Pécresse in a video published on her X account (ex-Twitter).
