On October 2, a 30-year-old woman was arrested by the Vallard-Thonex customs brigade, in Gaillard, in possession of 7.8 kilos of cocaine. This seizure, described as exceptional by the authorities, took place during the control of a taxi registered in Switzerland, traveling between Geneva airport and Annemasse, reports 3 Regions.

The passenger, of Portuguese origin, first claimed to be going to the border city to buy a vehicle, after having taken the plane in Madrid. However, a security pat-down allowed a customs officer to detect a “hard mass” around his abdomen and thighs. A thorough search revealed a sheath taped to the body, concealing the drugs.

During her hearing, the woman explained her journey: leaving São Paulo, Brazil, she passed through Madrid, Zurich, then Geneva, before taking a taxi to Annemasse. She had to exchange the cocaine for 5,000 euros in cash.

The seized drugs were handed over to the judicial police. Placed in police custody, the woman was then remanded in custody. She will be tried immediately before the Thonon-les-Bains court on October 7.
