The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers from the Papineau MRC station were called, around 8 p.m., to go to Route 321 regarding this road exit involving a single vehicle.

“The driver, a man in his thirties, apparently lost control of his vehicle for a reason that remains unknown,” said Sergeant Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

“He was seriously injured and transported to a hospital, where unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” she said Sunday morning.

There was also a female passenger in the vehicle, but there is no fear for her life.

“The passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was also transported to the hospital center for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening,” said the sergeant.

“A police officer trained in collision investigation went to the scene to clarify the causes and circumstances of this swerve,” she added.

This section of Route 321 is now reopened to traffic.
