Friends of Acadian artist Fayo celebrate her life and career in Summerside

Friends, relatives and colleagues of Acadian artist Fayo gathered Sunday for a celebration of his life.

Mario LeBlanc died on September 30 in Mont-Carmel, Prince Edward Island, a few days shy of his 47th birthday.

The singer-songwriter and poet lived on the island. He was originally from , New Brunswick.

At the La Belle Alliance Center, Summersidein Prince Edward Island, his loved ones remembered anecdotes. Poems and songs accompanied the touching ceremony for a man loved and respected by all.

He was someone everyone lovedsaid Michel Lalonde. As soon as we saw Fayo, as soon as we met him, we felt this kind of warmth that emanated from him.

Mr Mario, he was everyone’s friendsaid Joanne Bulgera teacher at École-sur-Mer, where the deceased worked. He was a friend of his colleagues. He was a friend of members of the French-speaking community. He was also a friend of the students.

He was completely adopted and he adopted usadded Mylène Ouellette.

I’ve never seen Mario have a mood swing or not be ready to help youconfided Gilles Benoît. If you needed something, you went to Mario and Mario was incredibly kind. Always ready to help, always in a good mood.

Fayo had an enormous love for his community, an enormous love for Acadiadeclared Ghislaine Cormier, executive director of the Cultural Federation of Prince Edward Island.

Winner of the songwriter prize at the Caraquet Song Gala in 2000, he composed three albums: Bean fever (2001), Acute accent (2006) et Fitness (2012).

Mario LeBlanc published the collection in 2000 Birthmarks.
