Israel and Hamas at war
A virulent and acerbic reaction. The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, criticized this Saturday, October 5, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and the leaders of the countries who called for an end to arms deliveries to Israel against the backdrop of the war against the Palestinian Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
All civilized countries should stand firmly with Israel
Benjamin Netanyahu
“As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilized countries should stand firmly with Israel. Yet President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against Israel. They should be ashamed.”said Benjamin Netanyahu in a video and a press release from his office.
The prime minister insisted his country was waging a multi-front war against organizations backed by Israel’s archenemy Iran. “Is Iran imposing an arms embargo on Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis, Hamas and its other proxies? Of course not”he said.
These movements are part of the“axis of resistance” against Israel, named after the group of Tehran allies. “This axis of terror is united. But the countries that are supposed to oppose this axis of terror are calling for an arms embargo on Israel. What a shame!”he added.
Emmanuel Macron calls for a “political solution”
The Israeli Prime Minister assured that Israel would win even without their support. “But their shame will endure long after victory. Rest assured that Israel will fight until the battle is won, for our sake and for the sake of world peace and security.”he said again. Comments to which the Élysée reacted this Saturday evening, ensuring that France is Israel’s “unwavering friend”, and deplores the “excessive” words of Benyamin Netanyahu.
On the radio France Inter and during a press conference following the Francophonie Summit this Saturday, Emmanuel Macron called on all world leaders to no longer provide Israel with the weapons used in the fighting in the Gaza Strip: “I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to carry out the fighting in Gaza.”
