Senegal and the AES countries with absent subscribers, the return of Guinea!

The 19th Francophonie summit will take place in on October 4 and Saturday, October 5, there will be dozens of African leaders including Benin, Chad, the Central African Republic, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo…
However, three French-speaking countries in the Sahel, notably Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, with which France has had tense relations since the coups of recent years, were not part of this international meeting. Unlike Guinea returning to the OIF.

Guinea was placed under sanction by the Organization after the coup d’état of September 2021. Then, on September 24, the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) exempted Conakry from sanctions, which allowed the country to participate in the event.
The government and social actors express different reactions to this lifting of sanctions for this country still in transition. However, Senegal will also be one of the major absentees from this 19th summit; the reasons for this rejection of the invitation have not been officially communicated, but it is a boycott which raises concerns.

It should be remembered that the presidents of Senegal have always taken part in this summit on a regular basis. This year, this diplomatic ritual, considered a symbol of the close ties between Senegal and France, seems to be abandoned, which has not failed to raise questions among observers and diplomatic figures. Decision taken by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye? Is there a decision to reject an invitation at the last moment? If so, what could be the reasons? This may be because the country, under the leadership of the new president, has adopted a pro-sovereignty approach.
