Morocco-: Agreement to strengthen cooperation in the equine sector

A declaration of intent was signed on Saturday on the sidelines of the Horse Show 2024 between theFrench Institute of Horses and Riding (IFCE)the French Equestrian Federation (FFE)the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE) and the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC). The signing ceremony of this agreement was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiq.

As part of the road map signed by the Ministers of Agriculture of the two countries on April 22 at International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM)it marks an important step forward towards closer cooperation between the Moroccan and French equine sectors. The objective is to strengthen exchanges in the agricultural and forestry sectors, while highlighting the importance of partnerships between the equine sectors of the two countries. The statement of intent also aims to structure the exchange of information and facilitate future collaborations in areas of common interest.

On this occasion, the general director of the SOREC, Omar Skallistressed that the signing of this declaration of intent is part of bilateral exchanges between Morocco and , more particularly in the agricultural sector. “The objective remains the exchange of expertise and training and the development of the equine sectors of the two countries, in terms of skills, commercial exchanges and genetic sciences,” he added in a statement. statement to the press following the signing.

Mr. Skalli also welcomed the great development of the Moroccan and French horse ecosystems, “which we achieved during a preparatory meeting with most of the stakeholders from the two countries”.

In the same wake, the general director of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports, Badre Fakirindicated that this signature strengthens bilateral cooperation between Morocco and France, especially as it aims to develop the equine sector. He noted the need to promote training and skills relating to horses.

For his part, the general director ofIFCE, Jena-Rock Gailletwelcomed the “excellent” cooperation between the Morocco and the Francenoting that this signature concretizes “the entire equine sector”. In this sense, he emphasized the importance of exchanges between the Institutes of the two countries as well as Associations, Federations and the private sector.

A diagnosis of the two sectors will make it possible to identify cooperation opportunities, particularly with regard to the development of uses of the Barbe and Arabian Barbe horse, the sharing of expertise and training, as well as innovation and Research – Development.

A steering committee will be set up to follow the stages of this cooperation, with an intermediate progress point planned alongside the Horse Show in December 2024.
