Aït Taleb undertakes to shed light on the Aïn Atlas rumor

The Ministry of Health has not completely dissipated the controversy which grew after the dissemination of a document supposedly emanating from its delegation in Casablanca, relating to the conformity of Aïn Atlas water.

According to the daily Assabahwhich returns to this subject in its weekend edition of October 5 and 6, the document worries Moroccan consumers. For any reaction, the ministry said it had taken up the matter and is studying what action to take, within the framework of what the procedures in force provide.

For the moment, the ministry’s communications services have contented themselves with briefing a few media, which cite a “reliable source», relayed the message from the Aït Taleb department. Message according to which the document which made the rounds on social networks is “a fake» and that even if it clearly bears the letterhead of the ministry delegation to the prefecture of the El Fida-Mers Sultan districts, it is not an official document and its content has nothing to do with truth .

The ministry’s reaction, instead of calming minds, has, on the contrary, sowed more confusion among consumers. “If the document in question is fake, why doesn’t the ministry issue an official statement saying so?», asks the daily, which says it is relaying a question widely shared on social networks.

A question that the daily also asked a manager at the Ministry of Health. In response, the latter confirmed that “this first release from the ministry aimed to stop the distribution of this document in public, while presenting the first elements of information on the subject» et «to inform information sites of the existence of a false document whose publication risked causing confusion in public opinion and harming the company producing this trademark».

For his part, the ministry delegate at El Fida-Mers Sultan, whose department is supposed to have established this document, claims to be unaware of it. “He became aware of this document at the same time as everyone else“, underlines Assabah.

In a daily statement, the ministry delegate asserts that “the Department of Health is not authorized to carry out assessments of this type on products classified as food products“. In addition, continues the manager, contrary to custom, his name and signature do not appear on the stamp affixed to this document. In any case, says the manager, the file “is currently in the hands of the ministry which will decide on the follow-up to be given to it, according to the usual procedures».

The document, recalls the daily, specifies that as part of the health control of natural mineral waters, a sample from a batch of Aïn Atlas natural mineral water concluded that this water did not comply with the quality standards in force.
