Dakar, Oct 4 (APS) – Pape Bouna Thiaw will lead, on an interim basis, the Lions of Senegal for the double confrontation against Malawi on October 11 and 15, counting for the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations football, announced the Senegalese Football Federation on Friday.
This announcement comes after the decision of the Ministry of Sports not to approve the one-year renewal of the contract of Lions coach Aliou Cissé, in office since 2025.
Thiaw, until then the first assistant coach of coach Aliou Cissé, swas assisted by Teddy Pellerin, second assistant coach of the national team.
The national technical director, Mayacine Mar, is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the national selection.
The State of Senegal has decided not to renew for one year the contract of the coach of the national team, Aliou Cissé.
On this basis, the Minister of Sports Khady Diène Gaye invited “the FSF to take the necessary measures to ensure the participation of Senegal in the qualifying phase for the 2025 African Cup of Nations”.
