Florent Madelaine, firefighter at the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Seine-Maritime (SDIS 76), regained his position after the administrative court of annulled his dismissal, initially pronounced due to the use of a false Covid-19 vaccination certificate. This verdict, rendered on October 4, 2024, puts an end to a long legal battle for this 45-year-old firefighter.

A false pass for financial survival

In 2021, while the law on health crisis management imposes compulsory vaccination for firefighters, Florent Madelaine refuses to be vaccinated. After more than a year of suspension and a deterioration in his financial situation, he ended up presenting a false vaccination certificate to be able to resume his service in Rouen. However, his deception is discovered and he is revoked for life by SDIS 76, a hard blow for this father of four children, passionate about his profession for more than 15 years.

Cancellation of the revocation: a relief for Florent Madelaine

After contesting this decision before the administrative court of Rouen, justice finally ruled in favor of Florent Madelaine. The court overturned his dismissal, ordering his reinstatement within three months. According to his lawyer, Me Diane Protat, he and Florent’s family are relieved by this decision. “He is delighted and impatient to see his colleagues again,” she confides.

A new beginning

During this difficult period, Florent Madelaine created a self-employed fire training business to provide for his family’s needs, but he can now consider a return to his position, which he had always considered as a vocation.
