The City of () intends to ride the wave of new popular sports. This is how she has just launched a call for demonstration of competing interest for the construction and operation of sports grounds.

The new disciplines that would be implemented in the city are padel, basketball 3 against 3 and football 5 against 5. “Padel is a sport which is developing a lot and which we do not have in Poissy. In the region, we have small lots left and right and we want to bring this type of infrastructure,” explains Éric Roger, deputy mayor in charge of sport, youth, community life and volunteer engagement.

The chosen one insists on 3v3 basketball. A discipline in square tree which exploded during the 2024 Olympic Games, thanks in particular to the silver medal of the men’s team. “The basketball club doesn’t necessarily practice it, due to lack of infrastructure. This would make it possible to offer this new discipline. »

A big complex

And the City does not want to go into detail. She is ready to welcome a big complex.

“We are waiting for the projects to arrive on the table, but we want 10 to 12 padel courts, 3 3v3 basketball courts, 2 5v5 football fields and perhaps pickleball, with also a restaurant area. »

The City has already found the land. It will be about 8,500 m² near Cosec (42, rue d’Aigremont), including the large stabilized land (in sand).

The proposed arrangement will be a long lease for a period of between 25 and 35 years depending on the projects. The operator will have to in charge the construction of the equipment, the operation of the site and will, in return, pay rent to the Municipality.

“We have already been contacted by several private companies construction of sports equipment for a sports complex, partly covered. » The padel would rather be indoors and basketball and football outdoors.

To benefit the population

A project that would meet growing demand and offer new sporting practices. “I talk a lot with the president of tennis and basketball and even residents,” says Éric Roger. These are infrastructures that are of interest. We need to see how we can work intelligently with our associations so that they can also benefit from it. »

Questioned during the last municipal council, the mayor of Poissy, Sandrine Berno Dos Santos hopes to be able to negotiate with the operator.

“Some fields will be open access, therefore free, like basketball and football. »

By the time the companies come forward, state their project, one is selected and the authorizations are filed, these lands will see the light of day “at best by 2026», Announces Éric Roger.
