Morocco-EU: Morocco in no way concerned by the CJEU decision | APAnews

According to the Court of Justice of the European Union, its decision is motivated by the observation that these agreements were concluded “without the consent of the people of “Western” Sahara”. However, Morocco has repeatedly stressed that any future agreement with the EU must respect the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The Kingdom of Morocco considers itself in no way concerned by the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union rendered on Friday concerning agricultural and fishing agreements, affirms the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing in abroad, emphasizing that the Kingdom did not participate in any of the phases of this procedure.

“Morocco is not party to this affair, which concerns the European Union on the one hand, and the “polisario” supported by Algeria on the other hand. Morocco did not participate in any of the phases of this procedure and, therefore, does not consider itself in any way affected by the decision,” the ministry specifies in a press release.

However, continues the same source, “the content of this decision contains obvious legal errors and suspicious errors of fact”, adding that “this denotes at best a total ignorance of the realities of the case, if not a bias blatant politics”.

In this momentum, maintains the ministry, “the Court even allowed itself to replace the competent UN bodies and to contradict their well-established positions and approaches. Moreover, the British High Court had, in a completely similar case, demonstrated more discernment, impartiality and legal mastery”.

According to the press release, “Morocco demands that the Council, the European Commission and the EU member states take the necessary measures to respect their international commitments, preserve the achievements of the partnership and provide the Kingdom with the legal security it needs. has a legitimate right, as a partner of the EU on several strategic issues”.

In this context, concludes the same source, “Morocco reiterates its constant position of not subscribing to any agreement or legal instrument which does not respect its territorial integrity and national unity”.
