Fashion Week remains a fabulous conceptual melting pot, as demonstrated in recent days by three American labels – Adam Lippes, 7 For All Mankind and the God’s True Cashmere brand, financed by Brad Pitt – as well as an Indian couturier, Vaishali S .

Adam Lippes: New York elegance on the left bank

Adam Lippes, one of New York’s classiest designers, presented his new collection at Karry Berreby, an elegant gallery on rue de , in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Right opposite Karl Lagerfeld’s famous bookstore, it was the ideal space to discover the American’s new discoveries.

Adam Lippes started as creative director at Oscar de la Renta, from which he kept traces of aristocratic style. But he appears much less formal than his alma materand offers wool suits with impeccable cuts and drapes, whose jackets are embellished with satin lapels. There are also long skirts with two-way zippers, easy to wear in all circumstances, stylish cargo pants, and a great series of cashmere coats with big buttons.

We also discover excellent ponchos in silk and coated twill, Japanese denim with charming details, and leather skirts and boleros with gold buttons.

Not surprisingly, business is booming.

“We have just opened our fourth store, this time in Palm Beach, and it is doing very, very well,” emphasizes the eternally youthful designer.

Based in Brooklyn Heights, Adam Lippes also has two New York boutiques, and more than ten counters in American department stores like Saks or Neiman Marcus.

After leaving de la Renta, Adam Lippes launched his own line in 2004, financed by Richemont who later sold it to Kellwood. Two years later, the designer bought his name and relaunched his brand, initially confidentially. After a simmering phase, it is launched at full steam.

Adam Lippes works with the most beautiful materials, and rubs shoulders with The Row or Carolina Herrera on the shelves, with what is currently the most refined of New York’s independent houses.

God’s True Cashmere: the chic cashmere of Brad Pitt and Sat Hari

On the other side of the Seine, Sat Hari presented seductive and trendy cashmere through its intriguing new label, called God’s True Cashmere.

And his business angel is none other than Brad Pitt, for whom she created the very first piece in this collection, in 2019.

The backbone of God’s True Cashmere is a range of checked shirts and overshirts in creamy cashmere, available in soft, impressionistic pastel tones. All are decorated with seven jeweled buttons on the front – an allusion to the seven points of the chakras – that the designer found in Jaipur, India, a country she knows well.

Born in Massachusetts to Swedish parents, Sat Hari grew up in India, where she attended the famous Shangri La boarding school in the Himalayas. As expected.

“Five years ago, I had a dream in which Brad, who is a friend, was in green, and I called him to tell him about it. He replied: ‘It’s funny, I was just saying to myself that I should ask my stylists to find me green cashmere.’ So, it made me think,” explains the designer.

In a few months, through an acquaintance in Assisi (Italy), she had a green cashmere shirt as a Christmas present for Brad Pitt. He liked it so much that they decided to go into business.

A selection of these pieces – made in series of 50 – sold out in the blink of an eye in a store in West Hollywood, and since then God’s True Cashmere has continued to grow in size. The line is now distributed by 35 brands, including Joyce, Le Bon Marché and Harrods.

During its presentation in a showroom in the 1st arrondissement, Sat Hari also unveiled a new men’s and women’s range in thick linen, with racing car-style stripes intelligently placed on the side, a reference to the new Brad Pitt film, F1.

Sat Hari teaches holistic medicine in Los Angeles, and has also signed some high-profile collabs – with Yohji Yamamoto, to name just one.. Quite a good idea to follow your dreams!

7 For All Mankind opens a Parisian store

The Californian label 7 For All Mankind took advantage of the end of this season to open its Parisian store, and the address is ideal, very close to the main Saint Laurent boutique and opposite a Dior beauty products boutique.

Long known as the cool girl’s denim brand, 7 For All Mankind has expanded its range to offer a complete wardrobe, with all kinds of chic leather jackets and jackets.

The house was founded in Los Angeles in 2000, where it is still headquartered. 7 For All Mankind jeans have been a staple for girls from Chelsea to Soho, from London to New York. But the brand has taken a bit of a downturn over the last ten years, bought in 2016 by Delta Galil.

It now seems to be regaining momentum, as evidenced by this boutique decorated with warm, natural oak, evoking the relaxed, sun-drenched atmosphere of the Californian landscapes. At the back of the store, there’s a change of atmosphere, with satin-trimmed steel, mirrors and concrete. There is also an installation by Pablo Octavio, at the crossroads of art and furniture.

There were guests even in the street for the inauguration, while Doppelganger, Parisians’ favorite DJ duo, offered an electrifying set.

“We are particularly proud to celebrate our return with an exclusive event during Paris Fashion Week, to mark our reappearance on the international fashion scene. This inauguration is not only a return to basics for 7 For All Mankind, it is also a new adventure,” explained Sacha Gomez de Zamora Ford, global president of 7 For All Mankind.

Vaishali S: an Indian girl in Paris

We cross the Seine again to enter the realm of haute couture and meet Vaishali Shadangule, a renowned seamstress from Mumbai, who was celebrating the inauguration of her first European boutique.

“It was my dream to settle in Saint-Germain since I discovered this neighborhood,” enthuses the designer, who came to show in Paris during Haute Couture Week.

The store located at 188, boulevard Saint-Germain, opposite brands like Etro, Brunello Cucinelli and Ralph Lauren, makes Vaishali Shadangule the first Indian designer to have her doorstep in the French capital.

The space is minimalist, all in white, which allows you to better appreciate the exuberant silhouettes and incredibly complex techniques and fabrics with which the designer works. It was Vaishali Shadangule who designed the store, in which you can also discover her decoration line, and in particular works in environmentally friendly textiles.
