Good start leads Remparts to 6-4 win in Charlottetown

The Quebec Remparts scored twice on the power play in the first period on Thursday, cruising to a 6-4 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders.

Justin Côté, Nathan Quinn, Andreas Straka, Nathan Plouffe, Jake Greenwell and Maddox Dagenais were the scorers for Quebec.

The Remparts remain in the Atlantic provinces to face Halifax and Cape Breton, Friday and Sunday.

Quinn converted the rebound of a Dagenais shot at 9:15 in the first period.

Straka doubled the cushion at 14:40 in the first period. Playing his first game in the QMJHL, the 17-year-old Slovakian scored with a wrist shot. The disc entered the net after deflecting off the right post.

Plouffe made it 3-0 at 7:15 in the second period, on a breakaway.

The Islanders closed the gap 41 seconds later, when Nathan Leeke completed a two-on-one started by Mathis Valente.

Only 58 seconds later, however, Quebec regained a three-goal lead thanks to Côté’s breakaway net.

Côté leads the league with 13 points, including four goals.

Leeke and Alexis Michaud were the scorers for the Islanders, who had won their last two matches.

Tyler Peddle scored twice and the Sea Dogs earned their third straight victory, winning 6-3 against the Titan.

A seventh-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2023, Peddle scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season.

Ben Cross was involved in three Sea Dogs goals.

The team will try to keep its momentum Saturday night at home, against the Islanders.

The Sea Dogs were beaten at home in their first two games this season.
