many animals are waiting for a home and a family at the SPA

The SPA is organizing its open house weekend this Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, 2024.

An animal is a companion for life. But too often unfortunately, fate brings innocent furballs onto the street or behind the bars of the secure and comforting cages of the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA). This year the association is organizing its open days this Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6, 2024. The opportunity to meet those who are waiting for a home and a family.

The summer has been particularly eventful at the Cluses shelter, which is overflowing with animals of all kinds, as manager Anne-Sophie Perillat explains.

In Cluses this fall, and like almost all the time, the refuge is therefore full.

Same trend at the independent Marlioz shelter located between Cruseilles and Frangy, where the manager even denounces an unprecedented situation observed since September 2024: 6 out of 10 dogs come from unaccounted for wild abandonments, explains Tim Bardin.

The Cluses SPA refuge will also be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for Open Days focused on the Human-Animal relationship, which promotes physical activity and increases well-being.

The Cluses refuge in the midst of expansion work

Good news for the SPA refuge in the Arve valley where expansion work began at the beginning of September to construct an additional 40 m2 building which will include storage space and two infirmary rooms to free up space in the cattery and thus increase the capacity to accommodate felines. Work financed by the SPA thanks to donations from individuals and generous donors.
