Seine-et- ► The Department organizes Carer’s Month from October 1 to 31

Press release from the Department of Seine-et-, Tuesday October 1 –

Leader in solidarity, the Department of Seine-et-Marne supports caregivers on a daily basis through the fourteen departmental solidarity centers spread across the territory.

In October, the traditional caregiver month, there are even more activities: workshops, meetings, theater, screenings and debates throughout Seine-et-Marne. Discover the program on www.seine-et-marne.fr.

On the occasion of National Carers’ Day, October 6, the Department is organizing Carers’ Month from October 1st to 31st. All people who help on a daily basis a loved one with a disability, seriously ill, dependent or elderly, are invited to share their situation and find out about departmental assistance.

Among this help we find: the support and respite platform which offers individual or group support in order to break isolation or give caregivers free time. Training sessions, home help interventions, cultural or friendly outings can also be organized for caregivers.

For beneficiaries of the personalized autonomy allowance (APA), the right to respite can be activated when the APA ceiling is reached. The APA can finance home relay, temporary accommodation or day or night care for the person being helped. For beneficiaries of the APA or the disability compensation benefit (PCH), there are finally possibilities of financial compensation for caregivers. The APA or the PCH can, under certain conditions, be used to compensate a family caregiver.

For more information, caregivers are invited to go to the departmental solidarity centers or to contact the line dedicated to them during the caregiver month at 01.64.79.73.29 from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (cost of a call).

“Caregivers, you are not alone! The Department of Seine-et-Marne and its partners support you and are present at your side, to make your daily life easier,” specify Jean-François Parigi, president of the Department and Bernard Cozic, vice-president in charge of solidarity.

Today, nearly 180,000 people from Seine-et-Marnais support a loved one who is losing their independence, has a disability or is seriously ill. Beyond the numbers, being a caregiver impacts daily life in a very concrete way: stress, fatigue, feeling of guilt in the face of possible renunciation. Faced with these observations, the Department has been committed for several years now to supporting caregivers in their daily lives by facilitating the use of local responses.
