The second show of the season, programmed by the Association for Popular Theater (ATP) of Uzège, will take place on Saturday October 5, at 7:30 p.m., at the Pont du Gard.
Fathersfrom the Babel company, directed by Élise Chatauret and Thomas Pondevie, explores fatherhood in a new light. Designed from interviews conducted in the towns of Sevran, Seine-Saint-Denis and Malakoff (Hauts-de-Seine), this piece highlights contemporary family dynamics by giving pride of place to men’s voices.
An interactive experience
On stage, actors Laurent Barbot and Iannis Haillet successively embody a variety of father figures: from the authoritarian father to the father hen, including the absent paterfamilias. This overview demonstrates a profound evolution in family models and questions the very notion of masculinity. The two actors, through their nuanced acting, tell personal stories while weaving a link with societal issues.
Through a dramaturgy that mixes intimate stories and theoretical references, the play is not content with a didactic approach. The scenes are built around authentic testimonies, accompanied by drawings, images and soundtracks, creating an immersive and interactive experience for the audience.
The show, which has already enjoyed great success at various festivals, invites everyone to reflect on their own relationship to fatherhood and family models.
More than a simple performance, it is a real theatrical investigation which extends the discussion around masculine roles and new forms of family, while opening the way towards emancipated fatherhood.
This show will be preceded, at 5 p.m., by the Uzège ATP season presentation.
