Montreal: an octogenarian hit by a vehicle in Ahuntsic

An 82-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle very late Wednesday in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, in Montreal.

The City of Montreal Police Department was alerted shortly before 11:30 p.m. by 911 calls about a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian near Papineau Avenue and Sauriol Street.

When the police arrived on site, they located the pedestrian injured in the upper body, said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The victim was transported to a hospital, but there is no danger to his life, despite the significant injuries, according to Montreal police.

The 30-year-old driver who was traveling westbound on Sauriol Street began a left turn before hitting the octogenarian who was crossing Papineau Avenue eastbound.

Police officers specializing in collision investigation were dispatched to the scene to analyze the scene and try to shed light on this accident, while witnesses to the event were met.
