It’s quite a spotlight that has been given to the Teenagers’ house (Ado Sud 77) from south-Seine-et-MarneBrigitte Macronthe president of the Hospital Foundationparticipated, Wednesday October 2, in the open day of this structure, which welcomes young people aged 11 to 25, in its branches in Fontainebleau and Montereau-Fault-Yonne. For the occasion, the event was relocated to the Youth center of Avon, a partner entity (read the box).

“It’s a pilot day for adolescents with hybrid structures which all have the same objective: to improve the care of adolescent mental healthconfides Brigitte Macron, president of the foundation which helps finance these structures. Our main mission is to welcome children to the hospital, but there is a growing need for reception for this population and it is fundamental to offer an escape route for young people. »

An inventory confirmed by Doctor Catherine Virevialle, psychiatrist at the southern Seine-et-Marne hospital center (CH south 77), the establishment which manages Ado Sud 77. “Since the Covid crisis, demand has been exponential among young people,” she says. They are more withdrawn, hyperconnected on social networks: an area that facilitates depression and school dropout. »

The figures speak for themselves: more than 500 adolescents in the area are already taken care of and the demand continues to grow… The main missions of the Adolescent Center? Welcome – alwayss free, anonymous and confidential -, listening by professionals, evaluation and support, guidance, but also prevention.

A complementary offer to the Avon MDJ

As part of her trip, Brigitte Macron was able to meet teenagers, supported by the Youth Center (MDJ) in Avon, which also welcomes young people aged 11 to 25. “We offer a range of offers ranging from leisure, through culture, education and awareness raising for adolescents,” summarizes Johan Verstraete, the director of the structure. Brigitte Macron was thus able to attend a “moving debate” around health, sexuality and Pink October, set up by members of the structure. This living space offers a diverse offering with numerous spaces to adapt to the needs of young people: DIY, music studio, computer room or even music studio. Information: 01 64 69 07 65.

Support is provided by a multidisciplinary team composed of psychologists, nurses, specialized educators, but outside the hospital, to “destigmatize” the support. “Seine-et-Marne is a vast territory and it is necessary to develop branches of this type to always be as close as possible to adolescents,” assures Frédéric Valletoux, former Minister for Health and now MP.

All adolescents in the area can contact Ado Sud 77, but also their loved ones, such as worried parents or grandparents. The origins of adolescent illnesses are varied and no subject is taboo: from school bullyingpassing through the sexualityaddictions, exposure to social networksor even prostitution.

“Avoid drama”

“The arrival of Brigitte Macron is an additional opportunity to talk about this structure,” insists Chantal Goimbaultpole frame mental health at CH Sud 77 and coordinator of Ado Sud 77. The start of the school year has passed and we already feel that the need is starting to be felt among adolescents. » In the aftermath of the health crisis, the Hospital Foundation had also released emergency aid of €3M for the mental health of adolescents and young adults.

“This is one of our priorities and the Yellow Pieces operation that we launch each year also helps finance the Teenagers’ Centers which have spread since the opening of the first in , more than 20 years ago », indicated Brigitte Macron. And Anne Barrèrethe vice-president of the foundation, concludes: “The more young people are aware of the existence of these structures, the more tragedies we will avoid. »
