There are always more 4x4s and cars in the Swiss vehicle fleet.
If the number of new registrations continued to decline in September, the proportions of four-wheel drive vehicles and alternative engines continued to increase.
The 6.6% decline in registrations, for a total of 20,155 cars, brings the contraction over the first nine months of the year to 3.9%:
- The share of 4×4 gained 2.3 points percentage over one year to reach 53.0% in Septemberindicates the monthly statistics distilled by the Auto-suisse federation on Wednesday;
- That of electric and mixed propulsion rose by more than five points to 65.7%;
- Note that in this category, the trend towards all-electric or rechargeable on the network (plug-in) is running out of steam, for the benefit of hybrids.
Volkswagen remains the best-selling brandrepresenting more than one registration in ten. The attraction of Swiss residents for German cars continues unabated. If the Czech Skoda, owned by VW, is with 9.5% the second most distributed brand, the German BMW (9.3%), Mercedes-Benz (8.7%) and Audi (8.2%) complete the top 5. (awp/ats)
