nice surprise at the pump

The prices at the pump of gasoline and diesel fell on Tuesday, October 1, by around 30 cents per liter, depending on the distributors. Diesel is displayed at 11.47 dirhams per liter at Afriquia and Shell service stations and costs 11.45 dirhams per liter at Winxo, it was noted Le360 on the morning of Tuesday October 1 in downtown Casablanca. Regarding gasoline, the price of a liter amounts to 13.37 dirhams at Afriquia and Shell and 13.34 dirhams at Winxo. These drops will be less significant at gas stations in certain cities in the kingdom due to the cost of transport and distance.

Prices remain unchanged for the moment at distributor Total: a liter of diesel is sold for 11.77 dirhams and that of gasoline for 13.67 dirhams.

Despite the mobilization by the Moroccan government of direct financial aid, distributed to freight and passenger transporters, all categories combined (taxis, buses, trucks, road tractors), Morocco occupies fourth place in the ranking of African countries where Fuel prices are the highest, notably due to the kingdom’s dependence on fuel imports.

In its second quarterly report, the Competition Council specifies that the supply of the national market with diesel and gasoline recorded a total import volume of 1.47 million tonnes in the first quarter, an increase of 9.1 % in volume and 0.9% in value compared to the same period of the previous year. Diesel continued to represent around 91% of the volume and value of imports, depending on the type of fuel, it further specifies.
